Why So Generous? : Part 2 Christmas Special

I did have intended to post this on Christmas day but alas the drinking and the eating and the more drinking and eating meant I was pretty much incapable of typing and stringing togething a legible senetence. Ive also just been insanely busy buth ere I am today though, with lots of tune to give away. Hope every one had a great Christmas and New Years.

Crystal Fighters - I Love London (Qoso Remix)

Been alot of attention about artists similar to that of Bart B More lately and this remix by Qoso defenitely matches his quirky bouncy style. I Love London remixes have been doing the round but this is defenitely my favourite.

Mowgli - Nu Skool (Camel Remix)

An Italian artist remixing an other Italian artist with great results.

De Bos - On The Run (Ralvero "Get Down" Remix)

If a song says "Get Down" in it you know your in for a nice little banger. Get down with this track and keep that party going.

Layo & Bushwacka - Love Story (Solo Bootleg Remix)

Old bootleg remix by Solo of Layo & Bushwacka's classic house anthem.

Aeroplane - Caramellas

Slow paced disco house track with beautiful piano based sythns and catchy guitar riffs. If anyone knows how tomake good disco house its those Aeroplane boys.

Siriusmo - High Together (DJ Apt One Intro Edit)

Siriusmo: producer, top graffiti artist and also carpenter and brick layer. He's one of the most talented young producers of the decade without a doubt. DJ Apt One takes "High Together" and gives it a slight Nu Disco feel.

Dustin Zahn - Anolog God (Drumcell & Audio Injection Remix)
A.Paul - Presence (Vic Miranda Remix)

For the more minimal and tech house lovers ;)

Enjoy guys and gals.

Maciek Pozoga

Time for an Art post.

While waiting calmly for Bobmo's new E.P titled Falling From The Crescent Moon to be upped to Beatport which is supposed to be out today I discovered that Strip Steve (Boys Noize Records) has a brother called Maciek who is very good photographer and Illustrator and designed the art work for Bobmo's E.P.

Check out his work at these sites:

DJ Zinc Xmas Crack House Mix

Choosing to turn your back on a genre that defined you as an artist is a risky one, but thats exactly what one of DNB's most longest runner did. Switching from 170 BPM to 130 BPM he started producing a new sound that he describes as Crack House. Here's a new mix he's done to celebrate the Christmas season.

Killing In The Name Of

By now everyone should know that Rage Against the Machine beat Mr Joe Mc Elderry to Christmas N0 1. Newspaper headlines, facebook status, radio stations have literally gone berserk over this. If you dont know the story you have DEFENITELY been living in some sort of cave or where snowed in with no electricity or something. Cut the story short a couple started a campaign on Facebook to get RATM's "Killing in the Name Of" to the number one spot for Christmas . Literally thousands and thousands joined the group and bought the single in an attempt to topple the X Factors Monopoly over Christmas N0 1, myself included.

Ive got an old remix of "Killing In The Name Of" by French wonder kid Sebastian for you to enjoy. Get moshing.

Nguzunguzu & Chernobyl

Two artists who Ive recently discovered are Nguzunguzu and Chernobyl whose mixes have been doing the rounds the last week on my Ipod. The two are similiar in styles ranging from a mix of Tribal, Kuduro, House and Bass heavy jams with influences coming from all around the Globe.

Nguzunguzu is comprised of Daniel Peneda and Asma Moroof all the way from L.A. They're slowly breaking through as very foward thinking artists, slowly honing their own unique style and have recently remixed Maluca over at Mad Decent and also the boys from Buraka Som Sistema which is no mean feat. With an E.P also called Nguzunguzu out soon on their own label Shades Business they're currently gigging it around all the way in Mexico which can only be the start of great things.

Nguzunguzu - E.P Promo Mix

Bonus:

Maluca - El Tigeraso (Nguzunguzu Remix)

Buraka Som Sistema (Nguzunguzu Remix)

Next up Chernobyl. Hailing from Brazil, this guys has been at the fore front of Brazilian music and is also one of the main crediters of Baile Funk. He's an excellent DJ as this mix proves, seamlessly mixing through Electro, Kuduro, Baltimore and Miami bass. He recently released an E.P called "Empina A Pipa" on Shir Khan's Exploited Records with a large host of remixes from artists such as the Finish duo Renaissance Man, Edu K and Joao Brasil.

Chernobyl - Dancefloor Is Not a Serious Place Mix

Bonus:

Chernobyl & Praga - Balanca (Renaissance Man Remix)

Riva Starr- Dance Me (Video)

Second single from his new album "If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade" out January 25th on Made to Play. Such a roller and great vid.

Crookers - We Love Animals ft Soulwax & Mixhell

Well well well. I didnt expect this. Is this a triumphant return from the Crookers? Possibly. Defenitely.
After a bucket load of hate swept over them since their mainstream success of their Day N Nite remix, the Italian duo have been slowly been working on their debut album titled "Tons of Friends" which will be released on the 8th March on Southern Fried. Rightly named the album see's the Crookers teaming up with a host of different artists such as Major Lazer, Spank Rock, Tim Burgess, Pitbull, Rye Rye, Kelis, Radioclit, Madness and Roisin Murphy. However the colloboration that sparked the most interest was the track they where working on with Soulwax and Mixhell.
Guess what they did next. They only went and gave it away for free as an early Christmas present. I love those guys.

Why So Generous? : Part 1

Ive got alot of music to go through and review so new to Doodle Beat will be a weekly instalment of just a load of tunes and remixes that Ive been digging that week or found. Music will range from everything to House, Techno, Electro, Hip-Hop,Disco,Drum and Bass and Dupstep so theres defenitely something for everyone.

Ramon Tapia - Colorz

Probably my favourite song at the moment. With influences of the new midget house scene and reminiscent of Solo, Mowgli and most of the stuff coming out on Sound Pellegrino this up beat Techno verging on House track is one that will defenitely get your grooves on.

Round Table Knights - Belly Dance (Mowgli Remix)

Mowgli remixes his own new artist to be signed to his label Deafish, bringing a nice bouncy house vibe to the track. Spinback before drop is epic.

Coolshop - Trumpet Girl (Juan Magan Remix)

Catchy trumpet sample. Thats all you need to know.

Sebastien Leger - Le Moustique

Classy Tech house track from Mr Leger. Slow to build up but picks up a great stride.

Hostage - Valhalla

I hate using the word "Epic" to describe tracks but its the only word that comes to mind when hearing this. Its a track I imagine playing in an intesne Viking Battle. Big orchestrated vocals, very clean produced drums and a mega bassline. Check out his new E.P also titled "Valhalla with remixes courtesy of Chrissy Murderbot, Rampage and my favourite of the bunch Momma's Boy

Acidgirls - Lightworks (Harvard Bass Remix)

FUCKING HELL!

Jon Curtis - Pull Up

Hoping to join the ranks of artists from Brighton such as Spectrasoul,JFB Geometri, Friction, Adam Freeland and Evil Nine, Jon Curtis is a new producer speacialising in big bass heavy tunes (similar to that of Foamo and A1 Bassline but defenitely different) who is set to burst onto the scene. He kindly passed onto me his track Pull Up which blends a brilliantly cut up vocal sample and a big bassline to boot. I can only continue the praise after hearing his edit of Foamo's club banger Wardance and his other tracks "Driven" and "Get Bangala". He seems like a nice bloke too having sent me a nice family picture. With an EP out in Febuary he's defenitely an artist to look out for in the future. Check him out and drop him a message on his myspace Here

Heres his track "Pull Up" available for you guys.

Drop The Lime - Devil's Eyes

After the mammoth release Set Me Free, Drop the Lime's new single released exclusively on Bacardi B-Live is just as big and could possible be my favourite song in so long and my song of the year. The vocals Drop the Lime has been adding to his voclas of recent times are nothing short of genius. Remixes have been coming thick and fast with the likes of Diplo, Classixx, Kanji, Beataucue and apparently a Foamo one is in the works according to the man himself which no doubt will add to the rotor of great remixes. Here they all are with Diplo's being my undeniable favourite.

Douster

I wish I had enough time to concentrate and make as many tunes and remixes as Douster does but alas juggling between making tunes, college and playing an insane amount Call of Duty, it pretty much seems impossible. An artists who's tunes and remixes have been on repeat on my Ipod constantly for the past months, Douster is a French/Argentian producer taking house to an all new tropical level. His unique take on blending Baltimore, Hip-Hop, Zouk in a nice House package has seen him rise to fame in a very short amount of time with labels such as Sound Pellegrino backing him all the way. He's recently caused quite a stir with his recent track "King of Africa", which is a club anthem based around a Lion King sample which for most has been a love or hate thing but I personally think its huge in the right context.

His latest offering is a remix of Malente & Dex's song Lions.

Malenet & Dex ft. New Kids - Lions (Douster Remix)

I also have some other Douster stuff to give away.

Busy Signal - Da Style Deh (Douster Dagga Remix)

La Bande A Basile - La Chenille (Douster Remix)

A-Trak - I Love Techno 2009

I Love Techno came and went again this year and again I couldnt make it. I said it last year but Im defenitely going next year. With an impressive line up consisting of superstar acts such as Laurent Garnier, Tiga, Brodinski, Proxy, Chris Leibing, Crookers, Boys Noize, Simian Mobile Disco to name JUST a few everyone knew this was going to be a good year. Of all the people I know who went they all came back saying they thouroughly enjoyed one set in particular; that set was A-Traks. Montreal born he's got quite a name for himself as being to first to win all Major DJ competetions and all being the youngest person ever at 15 to win the DMC's World DJ Championship. Impressive to say the least.

Heres his set from I Love Techno. Straight up house party set. Big

Strip Steve - Disco Delta E.P

How I wish to be Strip Steve. Only in his early twenties, signed to Boys Noize Records and reviving old school filter house with such success that his new E.P is getting praised from all angles with no bad reviews within probably the Earth. You have too cut it for the young kid from Bordeaux; hes done well for himself.

His new E.P titled Delta Disco is a mixture of banging house ala Cassius and Daft Punk and funky rolling basslines so diverse thats its easy to see why this kid is getting so much hype. My personal favourite of the E.P deciding only just today after two whole days worth of listening is "Dancin". Got damm that vocal hook is too cathy.

You can listen and download the Delta Disco E.P Snippet here.

Button Masher

We've had the big artists mentioned but now its time for the artists you may not have heard of. ;)
I dont know much about Button Masher myself apart from that he resides in Melbourne, Australia and..........makes great tunes :)

I do however like the quote on his myspace:

"Keep training your fish to be fine musicians, because one day they will be the flyest in the sea"

He's recently finished his remix of Noob and Brodinski's "Peanuts Club" for the remix competition and all I can say is wow. Much prefer this to the original and even the Beatacue remix. Show him some love and leave a comment on his myspace Here

Heres the remix for you. Absolutely Brilliant.

Drop The Lime - Set Me Free

Drop the Lime, aka Luca Venezia, aka also Curses! (signed to French label Institubes) could be said to be a very busy man. Whens he not hitting the road and performing or whatever dj's do, as Drop the Lime or Curses! he runs label Trouble and Bass which is responsibe for releases from artists such as Mathhead, Baobinga, Supra1, Boy 8 Bit and Star Eyes, all very bass influenced tunes.

His new track is out now and lives up to all expectations I had for this tune. With an epic bassline and beautiful catchy vocals from Carrie Wilds this song has massive crossover potential and I defenitely see this appealing to a larger crowd. Huge hit for sure.

Remixes are courtesy of Harvard Bass,a Californian producer signed to Instibubes baby label Sound Pelligrino who I have to add are killing it at the moment, and Zombie Disco Squad who adds a briliiantly structured tropical house themed style to the track.

Proxy - Who Are You?/8000

If Proxy looked like what his tunes sounded, he'd probably come across as some mad axe weiding bloke with rabies whos had way too many energy drink. Signed to Tiga's label Turbo he's responsible for club bangers such as "Raven","Decoy" and his remix of "What You Need". His new E.P is out now and includes "Who Are You?" and "8000", the former being what to expect from the Proxy, and the latter (my personal favourite) a more experimental approach with a slight Indian theme. The Official video got uploaded to Youtube yesterday by Mr Thomas VonParty himself and proves again, after the great "Peanuts Club" video that this guy can make good vids. Go out and buy the E.P. Its great.

Not to post without some tunes Ive got a crazy edit of Who Are You? by Trumpdisco.

Claude Vonstoke - Bird Brain

So I just passed my driving test so I thought what better way of celebrating than picking up Vonstrokes's long awaited second album titled Bird Brain. Most people think "Claude Vonstroke" is his real name but shockingly its just a name him and his friends came up with after a rave which then stuck.
House and techno producer Barclay Crenshaw (his real name haha) owns and runs labels Dirty Bird and Mothership, two of the best labels for releasing and supporting new music and artists. Dirty Bird has seen a string of seriously good releases from artists such as Style of Eye, Riva Starr, Tim Green and Zombie Disco Squad to name a few, not to mention his own highly original productions such as "Deep Throat" and "Who's Afraid of Detroit" which where received to outstanding acclaim and the latter possibly being the best tune of 2006. His new album is no exception with tracks such as "Vocal Chords, Beat that Bird and The Greasy Beat" being a true testament of his diversity and originality ,that I know will be on repeat for the next couple of weeks.

Dj Mehdi -Black, Black & Black Mix

Arguably one of the most underrated producers from the Ed Banger label along with Feadz, Dj Mehdi is known for his superior turntable skills from seamlessly mixing hip hop and electronic and has helped bridge the gap between the two genre giants. Formerly a long appointed producer for group 113 Dj Mehdi has released two full length EP's titled "The Story of Espion" and "Lucky Boy" the latter being seriously dope, and a a long series of remixes proves again how taleneted the French really are.

Doodle Beat : Your Guide to New Music and Art

I'm a music obsessed fanatic who likes to draw. Full stop. To save me the hassle of making two blogs; one about music and one about art I thought I'd combine the two to create some kind of hybrid blog super blog. Well thats the idea in simple words. Im based in Brighton although from Italian decent, 18 years old, make tunes, like to dj, graphic designer/illustrator.

My main goal is to tell people about the different types of good music out there be from the big acts to upcoming unsigned ones. Bit tired of being at a house party and some girl drunk of her tits asking you to play Lady Gaga or some Akoooonnnnnnn. If an attractive young lady asked me to play Popof or the newest release from Boys Noize then the world would be alot better off. Sooner than later I hope.

Art and music complement each rather well. Whether its synth driven bass line of disco house, the high frequency bleeps of minimal techno or the sparse lonely vocals of ambient electronica each genre of music helps me to draw things I never thought possible.

But now time for some tunes. Its Monday and theres nothing better than recovering from a hard weekend than some fresh new tunes.

1.Mowgli - London to Paris

Probably my favourite tune of the moment. I dont understand how a song can be so addictive! Heard Annie Mac drop this on Thursday and it melted my face in a mixture of sweat, my own drool and some guys beer I knocked out his hand as I danced my little feet off. . Found out about Mowgli after stumbling across a mix of his that went from Bmore, hip hop, disco house and salsa influenced tunes to straight down dirty tehcno. Impressed to say the least. His new EP titled "Nu Skool" is out now on Deadfish records and its defenitely worth checking out. Thumbs up to Mowgli for being a fellow Italian too ;)

2.Lazy Jay - Bingo (Dub Mix)

For those that dont know what a Lazy Jay is I wouldnt search it but what we do have is a producer who has released some major big hits and guy known for BIG drops. "Float my Boat" was huge and got play from everyone by artists such as Fake Blood, Boys 8 Bit, Annie Mac, Diplo to name a few. His newest song is no exception!

3.The Toxic Avenger - Toxic Is Dead (Drop the Lime Remix)

Artists wearing masks seems all the rage nowadays but if its means good tunes then by no means it should continue. Signed to big blog and label IHeartComix The Toxic Avenger is an electro thrash producer hailing from France although his myspace claims he produces "Christian Rap". Dear god. Here we have a remix from Drop the Lime with a heavy bassline thats bound to get the club going.
